Handwoven Cushion Workshop
Join us for this fun project-based beginner workshop that teaches you to weave your very own cushion!
In this workshop you will learn to weave your very own cushion cover using a gorgeous combination of thick, merino wool roving and fine yarns inspired by the designs by workshop host, Cassandra Smith, from Cassandra Sabo Designs.
Working with a fabric swatch, artwork or photograph you have brought from home for colour inspiration, you will select your colour palette of yarns from over 50+ colours in the studio and learn how to wind your very own blend of yarns for your cushion. Under Cassandra's expert guidance you will then learn how to combine these yarns with your preferred colour of wool roving by learning a selection of classic hand-weaving techniques to personalise your own cushion design.
Throughout the workshop you will be working with your own dedicated, X-Large Oxford Frame Loom and Weaving Tools (purchased as part of the workshop) that will enable you to weave a cushion size of 14in x 14in. We will provide you with the cushion pad, linen backing fabric and coordinating YKK zip of your choice to assemble at home once you have finished weaving, or if you prefer, we would be happy to arrange your cushion to be sewn together by our sewing specialist and return it to you upon completion for a small fee. Simply post your finished cushion cover to us (or drop it round to the studio) and we'll take care of the rest!
The focus in this workshop will be on learning a new craft skill while developing a project in a relaxed environment.
