Our Textile Arts Summer Club is a fun day of making and creating in small groups with experienced teachers! Kids and Teens who attend our Summer Club will come away with an appreciation for weaving, the Textile Arts and a new community from the only creative studio specialising in weaving in Oxfordshire!
After much planning (and revising!), we are really pleased to offer kids ages 6-11 and teens 12-17, the opportunity to join us for a wonderful textile art experience for a few select dates this Summer! Running in July and August, our unique Textile Arts Summer Club offers children the chance to explore weaving in a fun and relaxed environment this summer.
As the only creative studio specialising in weaving in Oxfordshire, there will be a strong focus on learning to weave through a variety of projects using our uniquely designed frame looms and weaving tools and learning the fundamentals of weaving.
Younger children will focus on the completion of a small, woven project, such as a coaster, bookmark or mini wall-hanging while teens will explore textiles by learning weaving techniques to more complex projects such as a bracelet, lavender sachet or woven wall art.
Participants will also draw upon a broad spectrum of textile art skills, including sewing, embroidery, needlepoint and crochet to complete and/or embellish their work, all of which are taught as part of the sessions!
The half day sessions run from 9am - 12pm each day, with a short break in the middle to stretch their legs and/or run around. We will endeavour to work outside on the picnic benches outside our studio whenever possible.
Our Textile Arts Summer Club is a small, intimate affair. We only offer space for 6 children per day, giving your child(ren) the unique opportunity to work closely with highly-skilled textile art teacher Cassandra Smith. This enables us to tailor our projects to the ages and experiences of each group.
