About The Oxford Weaving Studio

The Oxford Weaving Studio was founded by textile designer Cassandra Smith to inspire more people to discover the joy of weaving.

Built around the philosophy of "Discover your weaving style," the studio combines thoughtfully designed weaving products with inspiring education, encouraging makers to develop confidence, creativity and their own individual approach to weaving.

Today, The Oxford Weaving Studio offers contemporary frame looms, weaving tools, premium yarns, workshops, online learning resources and creative retreats, helping beginners and experienced makers alike enjoy weaving at every stage of their journey.

Founded by Cassandra Smith, The Oxford Weaving Studio reflects over a decade of professional weaving practice. Cassandra holds a First Class BA (Hons) in Textile Design from Central Saint Martins and, before becoming a textile designer, worked in engineering—a background that continues to influence the thoughtful design and precision behind The Oxford Frame Loom® and the studio's educational resources.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, and she is proud to be a member of Design-Nation and recognised as a Homo Faber Artisan, celebrating excellence in contemporary craftsmanship.

Although The Oxford Weaving Studio has grown considerably over the years, it remains an independent design studio led personally by Cassandra. Every loom, weaving tool, workshop and educational resource is carefully designed, tested and taught through her own experience as both a designer and educator.

Following several successful years in the heart of Jericho, Oxford, The Oxford Weaving Studio is now based in Cassandra's purpose-built garden studio in East Oxford. Alongside private tuition and small-group workshops, the studio is gradually opening its doors for regular open studio events where visitors can browse weaving looms, yarns, tools and handmade textiles, meet the designer, and experience the studio where new collections and products are created.

Whether you're discovering weaving for the first time, returning to a much-loved hobby, or developing your own textile practice, The Oxford Weaving Studio exists to provide beautiful tools, thoughtful teaching and ongoing inspiration to support your creative journey.
