About Us
The Oxford Weaving Studio
The Oxford Weaving Studio is a community-based weaving studio in the heart of Jericho, Oxford that celebrates the craft of weaving.
In our short time at Makespace Oxford we have grown to welcome a large number of visitors to our inspiring studio in Jericho, Oxford. In addition to designing and hand-weaving our distinctive range of fashion and interior products using super-soft, merino wool roving, we have hosted dozens of weaving experiences in our colourful and inviting studio space.
From our popular Weaving Workshops for adults to our Textile Arts Club for teens and children, with regular visitors on our Studio Membership to our drop-in clients for our Creative Weaving Sessions or our Yarn Shop, we have welcomed people of all ages and abilities into our studio to follow their passion and curiosity for weaving.
Our studio is the only dedicated weaving studio in Oxfordshire. Home to a variety of floor, table and frame looms available to hire or purchase, an extensive array of weaving yarns and materials, an inspiring display of handwoven products, kits, looms & tools and an array of inspirational weaving books and magazines to browse, we have created the ultimate setting in which to master weaving.
Founded by textile designer, Cassandra Smith (www.cassandrasabo.co.uk), Cassandra fell in love with weaving while studying Textile Design at Central Saint Martins over 10 years ago. Using her previous engineering background and learning about warp and weft was just the beginning of her long and enduring love of fibre. She is passionate about exploring different craft techniques and working with new materials and processes to create beautiful handwoven textiles.
