The Weaving Instructors
Cassandra Smith
Cassandra graduated from Central Saint Martins with a 1st Class Honours BA Textile Design degree in 2011, specialising in Woven Textiles.
In 2012, Cassandra won the Clothworkers' Foundation/ Cockpit Arts award, granting her studio space and access to modern looms and weaving equipment in Deptford, London. It was during this time that she further developed her interest in combining craft and weaving techniques with a variety of materials and began her textile design studio, Cassandra Sabo Designs.
After to moving to Oxford in 2013, Cassandra focused on private client commissions until a larger studio at Makespace Oxford became available and the seeds to The Oxford Weaving Studio became a reality.
As founder of the studio, Cassandra teaches all group and private weaving workshops, the Textile Arts Club for kids and teens and is supported by her amazing studio assistant Ellen Moore.
Ellen Moore is a graduate of woven textiles from Brighton University and also has her own creative practice weaving artwork and experimental pieces with a sustainable element. You can view her work on Instagram @moorewoven.
