Our new 2/16s Mercerised Cotton is a colourful and versatile yarn that will work well in both the warp and weft for frame looms as well as for hand and table looms. This 100% extra long staple, combed mercerised Egyptian cotton yarn is OEKO certified, so it will weave with a wonderfully soft and smooth handle.
This 2-ply yarn is a strong, fine yarn with a smooth surface so it should be a staple on any handweaver's shelf. The deep, glossy colours will brighten any woven project and we carry 68 colours as we know that finding the right shade matters!
This yarn is also practical for many applications beyond weaving. It could be used as a thicker sewing thread, blended or plied together with other fibres to create thicker yarn for tapestries and it is excellent in spinning when plied with other yarns to create gorgeous art yarns.
This cotton is also is what is used in our new Online Weaving Course with Domestika! We use a technique called yarn blending to create a thicker yarn from a group of finer yarns to great effect!
