Join our Intro to Frame Loom Weaving workshop to learn the basics of weaving and create a wall-hanging!

Skill Level: Beginner

What will I learn?

Using a frame loom you will set up your first warp and learn basic, contemporary tapestry weaving and classic hand-weaving techniques including Plain Weave, Soumak, Rya Knots, Rya Loops, Twills and Hop Sack. You will then experiment with a variety of yarns and materials from your Yarn Starter Pack in your chosen colour palette. We will then demonstrate how to tidy up your loose ends, insert your wooding hanging rod and remove your wall-hanging from your loom.

How to book your workshop:

Step 1. Check out current workshop availability using our BOOKING CALENDAR

Step 2. Purchase your workshop on this webpage below (use a gift voucher if you have one!)

Step 3. Return to the Booking Calendar and BOOK your preferred dates (please do not book your place until you have purchased your workshop online)

Step 4. Workshop details will automatically be sent to you once you have booked chosen your date via the booking calendar.

What do I need for the workshop?

Each student will be given everything they need to create their own woven wall-hanging for the workshop. You will select your preferred loom size from the Rainbow Weaving Frame Loom & Tool Set or medium or X-large The Oxford Frame Loom, and we will provide you with your choice of Yarn Starter Pack, a pack of hanging rods and our 24-page Intro to Weaving booklet that you will use in the workshop and then take home afterwards. You will also have use of our scissors, crochet hooks, tapestry needles and any extra fibres or materials from the studio on the day.

For those interested in upgrading to The Oxford Frame Loom, this will be dependent on stock availability on the workshop date. Learn more about the The Oxford Frame loom here.

Want to purchase this workshop as a gift? Please purchase a Gift Voucher instead to ensure the recipient receives all the required information and can book their preferred date at their leisure!

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop would suit those new to weaving and looking to learn a new craft skill. By learning to weave on a frame loom, participants will learn the basics of weaving, without needing to understand the set up process of working on a table loom. Not sure what the difference is? Read our blogs on Tapestry Weaving (on a frame loom) and Hand-Weaving (on a table loom).

This is also a project oriented workshop as you will come a way with your own woven wall-hanging, so suitable for friend and family looking for a fun activity to do on an afternoon.

The workshop is designed to be fun and engaging with the opportunity to express yourself while learning at your own pace. Typical class sizes hold a maximum of 6 students so you will have plenty of individual attention.
