Our weaving tools have been designed to pair perfectly with all our frame looms, including The Oxford Frame Loom, or to add to your collection of handy tools for tapestry or hand-weaving on your table or floor loom.

Each solid beech wood or acrylic tool has been carefully designed to work with the dimensions and spacing of our frame looms, which are set out at 2, 4, 8 and 16 EPI. They are wonderful to handle, easy to use, frictionless, long–lasting and our wood tools are also a beautiful, sustainable option.

The design of our tools also have a circular opening in each tool so you can store your tools neatly for safe-keeping using a handy clasp-ring when not in use.

What is the difference between the Beech and Acrylic Weaving Tool Sets?

Both weaving tool sets have the same design, so it really comes down to preference and how they feel in your hand!

The Beech wood tools are the more sustainable option, they are made of solid Beech wood, coordinate beautifully with The Oxford Frame Loom and have a smooth, sanded finish. When weaving with wool and or more delicate fibres in the warp, there can be a little more friction when passing through the warp. However when working with smoother or silkier fibres like a mercerised cotton or silk, this 'feedback' can be really helpful so you are aware of how you are gliding your tools through your fabric for a polished finish.

The acrylic weaving tools are great if you are working with those woolly or delicate fibres in the warp. They glide seamlessly through the warp, are wonderful to handle and come in cheerful colours! With smoother and silkier warps (and wefts) they are more likely to slip on the surface, nothing that can't be overcome!

So there are advantages to both types of weaving tools, it really comes down to preference!

* New * Our weaving tool sets now include a handy felt storage pouch for keeping your weaving tools safe when in storage. We are always looking at ways to create a better product!

What can each weaving tool do?

Shed Stick: Use this tool by weaving it into position and turning it onto its end to open the shed (space between warp threads when weaving).

    • Medium: 25cm x 1cm
    • X-Large: 50cm x 1cm

Shuttle: Wind your weft yarns neatly around the length of the shuttle when working with longer or thicker yarns, enabling you to weave across your warp with ease.

Needles: Use this tool to attach the end of your weft yarn, weave over and under each warp thread across your warp to create each row of weaving.
